Bethesda Migration to Steam Starts Today, Three Free Titles Now Available on Steam

Bethesda's migration to the popular digital storefront begins today.

These titles are being added to Steam because of the migration from the Bethesda.net Launcher, which is "sunsetting." Players who used the Bethesda.net Launcher can start migrating their games today.

"With the sunsetting of the Bethesda.net Launcher," Bethesda said in their FAQ section on if a game for the Bethesda.net Launcher isn't available on Steam. "We will be making several of our titles available on Steam that were previously unavailable.

"This includes 'The Elder Scrolls Arena,' 'The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall,' Creation Kit for 'Fallout 4' and 'Skyrim Special Edition,' and 'Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.' The 'Fallout 76' Public Test Server (PTS) is currently available on Steam as well."

Additionally, "An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire" and "The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard" became available on Steam yesterday like "Arena," "Daggerfall," and "Enemy Territory."

However, "Battlespire" and "Redguard" cost $8.49CDN each.

The Steam version of "The Elder Scrolls: Arena" runs on the original floppy version. The Steam version of "The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall" runs the DOS release.

Some players recommend installing mods such as "Daggerfall Unity," "ET Legacy," and more. Due to the age of the three titles, they can struggle to work on modern computers without mods.

The three titles didn't just become free yesterday though, "The Elder Scrolls: Arena" and "The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall" have been free to download on Bethesda's official website since 2004 for "Arena" and 2009 for "Daggerfall."

"Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory" was and still is free to download from Splash Damage's website, the developers of "Enemy Territory."

The Bethesda.net Launcher will become inactive May 11, 2022.
