'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' Sequel Launch Date Moved to Spring 2023

The new "The Legend of Zelda" will take at least another year and another delay to release.

Nintendo shared a video featuring Lead Producer of "The Legend of Zelda" Series, Eiji Aonuma. In the video, Aonuma announced the delay for the upcoming "Legend of Zelda" Title, apologizing for the delay as well.

"We previously announced that we were aiming for a 2022 release this year," Eiji Aonuma said in the video. "However, we have decided to extend our development time a bit and change the release date to Spring 2023.


"In order to make this game's experience something special, the entire development team is continuing to work diligently on this game, so please wait a little longer."


Multiple people who are looking forward to the game were understanding of the delay.

However, multiple people were also not happy about the delay.


The sequel to "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" was announced in 2019. The anticipated title was set for a 2022 release in the June 2021 Nintendo Direct.


The original "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" released for the Wii U and Nintendo in 2017. Since then "Breath of the Wild" has become one of the most critically acclaimed "Legend of Zelda" games.

"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild" started development in 2011, taking over six years to develop.
