EB Games will be Rebranded and Renamed to GameStop in Canada Later this Year

In an announcement yesterday from GameStop, by the end of the year, EB Games in Canada will be go by the GameStop name and brand.

The announcement was made on GameStop's Investor Website in a press release. This decision is done from customer and stockholder feedback, according to GameStop.

EB Games is currently the largest video game retailer in Canada, founded in 1993. The company is American but opened stores internationally, including in Canada.


EB Games merged with GameStop, the largest American video game retailer, in 2005.


EB Games was known as Electronics Boutique in 1977, but overtime delved into the growing video game retail industry, becoming EB Games.


EB Games will still have stores in other parts of the world, such as Australia, New Zealand, and etc..
