ESRB Website Lists a Mysterious 'Quake' for Modern Consoles Hours Before QuakeCon

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) is listing a "Quake," that could be a new entry in the "Quake" series or a remake.

According to the Video Game Chronicle, "Quake" mysteriously appeared on the ESRB website. This "Quake" has Bethesda Software listed as the developers. The game is rated M for Mature.

This "Quake" will also be coming out on the Xbox One, Xbox S|X, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. No release date is listed.

The ESRB Website also describes the game as a "first-person shooter" where "players traverse through maze-like medieval enviornments and use shotguns, nail guns, and grenade launchers to kill various enemies (e.g., zombies, demonic forces, scorpions, humans) in frenetic run-and-gun combat."

The original "QUAKE" released in 1996 to critical acclaim. "QUAKE" was developed ID Software, who released the iconic "DOOM" before.

QuakeCon 2021, a yearly celebration of Quake, will begin at 2:00 p.m. EDT today, which might include an official announcement for the "Quake" listed on the ESRB website. The question of whether the listed "Quake" is a remaster, remake, new entry, or true or not will be answered during QuakeCon 2021.
