Season Nine of 'SMITE' Arrives, Featuring Big Changes to Gameplay

Shiva's descent into "SMITE" brings many changes to the MOBA where Gods clash.

The free-to-play MOBA "SMITE" has just launched Season Nine today. Season 9 includes the new permanent Slash Game Mode, additions to Conquest mode, new skins for the Gods, balance changes, and more.

The new Slash game mode is a five versus five battle where both sides must defeat each other using Titans; Juggernauts; and defeating the God Apophis, an evil serpent.

"Slash is a fast-paced mix between action and strategy," Hi-Rez Studios said in the Steam Announcement for the details on Season Nine. "It is the ideal choice for players who like to be rewarded for both their team fighting skills and ingenious decision-making."

Shiva's temple will be added to "SMITE" as a part of the Order side of the map for the Conquest mode. The map update will also balance gameplay, adjust item placements, and rework the Relic System.

Obelisks, objectives for teams and players to complete, will be added to Conquest mode too.

Over 14 new skins will be released in Season Nine for the Gods, the characters players control during matches.

Many general patches have been added to "SMITE" in Season Nine, such as bug fixes, balance changes, and more.

"SMITE" Season Nine also has a 2022 Season Pass which instantly unlocks content for each God as they release in 2022. Their voice pack, limited ascended skin, tier one skin, and emotes will unlock alongside when the God is unlocked with the 2022 Season Pass.

"SMITE" released in 2015, developed by Titan Forge Games. So far they've only developed the massively online battle arena, "SMITE."

"SMITE" pits multiple Gods throughout several cultures and religions in competitive strategic battles.

According to Steam Charts, "SMITE" has over 30,000 active players.
