'Shantae and the Seven Sirens' will Add Four New Modes in a New Update

The update is planned to be implemented Nov. 30.

The fifth entry in the "Shantae" series is getting the "Spetacular Superstar" update. The update will feature four modes with various difficulties and monster card options that could fix some of the criticisms with "Seven Sirens."

The new modes are:

  • Definitive Mode

  • Full Deck Mode

  • Rule Breaker Mode

  • Beginner Mode

Definitive Mode includes difficulty like the classic "Shantae" games, new dialogue, tougher bosses, rebalancing, and more. The benefits of Definitive Mode, unless said otherwise, applies to all the new modes.

Beginner Mode is the opposite difficulty-wise as it'll be easy for newcomers. Full Deck Mode unlocks all 50 monster cards from the beginning. Rule Breaker Mode is like Full Deck Mode, but with no limit on how many monster cards the player can equip.

The original difficulty, balancing, and dialogue can still be experienced in Legacy Mode.

"Shantae and the Seven Sirens" released in 2020 for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. "Seven Sirens" is a platformer where player explores areas and platforms while growing stronger with monster cards that power up Shantae.

"Shantae and the Seven Sirens," while well-received, was criticized for having easy difficulty, poor bosses, lackluster new characters, and more.

When Definitive Mode arrives later this November, it could improve the bosses, new characters, and the difficulty that some people criticized..

Whether these changes will fix the problems some people had with "Seven Sirens" is something that'll have to be seen.
