‘Tell Me Why’ will Stop Being Free in Less Than a Day

Today is the last day of June, which not only means tomorrow is Canada Day, but that “Tell Me Why” on Steam and Xbox will stop being free.

All three chapters of the 2020 Choose Your Own Adventure game, "Tell Me Why,” have been free since the beginning of this June to celebrate Pride Month.

The developers of “Tell Me Why,” DONTNOD Games, made the game free to allow more players to access the game and to encourage people to positively affect LGBTQIA+ communities.

“We’ve received heartfelt messages from players all over the world about how Tyler’s homecoming as a trans man and Alyson’s struggle with trauma have impacted them, encouraged them, or made them feel a little less alone, especially amid the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic and pervasive transphobic rhetoric in places like the United States and the United Kingdom,” DONTNOD Games said in their blog post.

DONTNOD Games is popular for their narrative works, such as “Life is Strange” and “Vampyr,” the former having LGBTIA+ themes included.

“Tell Me Why” has won numerous awards, such as Gamescom’s Best Microsoft Game in 2020, the Pegases 2021 Narrative Excellence Award, winning the Games for Impact Category in The Game Awards in 2020, and more.
