Today is the Super Nintendo Entertainment System's Thirtieth Anniversary in North America

On 1981, August 23, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) came out in North America, shaping the childhoods of many.

The SNES is home to some of the gaming industry's most iconic games, including: "Kirby Super Star," "Super Mario World," "Earthbound," "Super Metroid," and many more. These would help shade the SNES' legacy and to be remembered so fondly.


The SNES sold 40+ million units worldwide as of 2016.
